PCUP national summit to embrace urban poor groups of all colors, come up with National Government Agenda for the Urban Poor

What:  National Urban Poor Summit 2016

Who: 

  • PCUP Chairman Terry Ridon, Vice President Leni Robredo, Undersecretary Maia Valdez of the Office of the Cabinet Secretary, Assistant Secretary Hope Hervilla of the DSWD; representatives from the DOLE, DSWD, DPWH, and NHA
  • 100 urban poor leaders representing 100 organizations nationwide, representatives of pro-urban poor civil society organizations (CSOs), concerned members of the academe

When: Oct. 29, 8 AM – 6 PM; Oct. 30, 8 AM – 12 NN

Where: Sequoia Hotel, Timog Avenue, Quezon City

Quezon City, Oct. 26, 2016 – Representatives of more than a hundred urban poor groups from across the country, CSOs, and the academe will come together with those from national government organizations to come up with a ‘National Government Agenda for the Urban Poor’. The said formal document will be formally presented to President Rodrigo Duterte on the occasion of the National Urban Poor Solidarity Week, and shall guide future policy and program pronouncements of the government.

The 2016 Summit will be ground-breaking in that it will include organizations and sectors which have previously not been able to participate in partnerships with the PCUP and government as a whole.
